Sports Premium

Background Information about the funding

The government is providing additional funding to improve the provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. The premium is designed to help children get an active start in life, supporting primary schools to improve the quality of their PE, physical activity, and sport provision so that pupils experience the benefits of regular exercise.

This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.

Eligible schools

Funding for schools has been calculated by reference to the number of primary-aged pupils (between the ages of 5 and 11), as recorded in the annual schools census in January.

Purpose of funding

Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this.

How Worplesdon Primary School is using the Sports Premium Funding

In the academic year 2025 to 2026, Worplesdon Primary School received £20,760 in Sports Premium funding which has been strategically invested to enhance PE provision and sporting opportunities for all our pupils.
